The Edge

Northmill Associates was honoured to work with Whitehaven’s coastal community to realise its vision for The Edge, a distinctive multi-purpose Coastal Activities Centre. The building provides hotel and hospitality accommodation, changing facilities for local water sports clubs, and arts space for wider community use. Our competition-winning design received the RICS Planning for a Successful Economy Judges’ Award, with the judges commenting:

“A bold and distinctive waterfront development delivering clear community and placemaking benefits. The Edge’s site-responsive form enhances local distinctiveness, supports outdoor activity and community use, and makes a strong contribution to the vitality of the harbour area. Shaped through proactive early engagement and close collaboration with planners, partners and stakeholders, the scheme helped secure a shared vision and a high-quality outcome
